Dropping in to say Hi!

Hello everyone,

I'm new here, obviously, and wanted to briefly introduce myself and say hello and thank you for the warm welcome in chat yesterday from Cloud. I'm sorry I couldn't make it in later to meet some of the other members. We had 13 chicks hatch yesterday and one more today, an escapee turkey poult to catch (thankfully, she was easy to catch), a goat kid to catch (not so easy to catch), errands to run, and some cuddling with my kiddos to do, and I wound up crashing putting my toddler down for the night.

One of my nicknames is Hawk (others call me Spirit, so that's cool too. I prefer not to post my name publicly due to my job.) I'm a 32 (33 next month) year old mother, teacher, equestrian, farmer, empath, musician, crafter, writer, tribal council member, and a whole lot of other stuff rolled up into one rather chaotic person, but I like being eccentric, most of the time. ;)

I've encountered the paranormal pretty much my whole life, and it's taken a long time to come to terms with who I am and what I can do, and I'm still learning and growing. I've learned so much from people willing to share their experiences and knowledge, and I'm hoping to be able to pay that forward when and where I can as well as continue learning.

I hope this finds everyone well, and I look forward to chatting with you. I love meeting new people.

Just wanted to drop in and give an update. I haven't had signal. Power might be back by the end of September.

We had more damage than we initially thought. Our hometown is devastated. I live in Lafourche Parish. The eye wall skirted our town for hours. The destruction is unreal.

My ac was ripped out of the living room and the water just poured in. We lost both couches, have mildew and mold growing, and lost a bunch of belongings. The ac in our room was damaged and we have water damage in our room to a lesser extent. Our back door was blown in and we lost a bunch of stuff that was stored in our dining room. Our kitchen window also leaked water all over the laundry that we hadn't had a chance to wash. Our freezer is a loss. There is no getting that stench out. Our horse shelter and barn are collapsed. 2 of our sheds are partially demolished. We lost our 10 year old aussie. My husband had to put him down. We lost 3 chickens. The siding is stripped off on one side of my house. There's part of a tree down on the roof (thankfully just the upper branches of the crown) and siding gone from the other side. The front has siding missing and cracks in our chain wall.

We can't stay in our house currently. The smell is horrific and I have breathing problems if I stay too long to clean. Insurance adjuster comes Sunday. Someone filed a fraudulent claim against my address, so we can't get the critical needs aid from FEMA. I had to call the office of Homeland Security and file a fraud claim.

There are probably over 100 trees down on our property. Our fenceline is almost obliterated.

We are safe with my parents. My father in law's trailer was leveled. He has a camper to stay in and Fema is helping him already. We have a generator where we are staying.

I'm trying my hardest not to break down. So much work just gone....

My school is badly damaged, one of the worst in the parish. We aren't sure when we will be back to school and they will extend the year into our summer to make up the days.

There's another disturbance forming where Ida began. We are expecting bad weather Monday that will likely undo the cleanup everyone has been doing.

One bright side is my husband's new puppy. He came home with a Great Pyrenees puppy from his friend. She's such a gentle soul and an absolute joy.

I’m so sorry for what you have all gone through with storm Ida and the damage done to your property and the loss of your animals you are all in my prayers too, I pray that the fraud incident is dealt with swiftly so you can access the help you need to get home ready for you all to return. It is gonna be an emotional time that might test you but stay strong and remember that you are not alone, I don’t know if you are religious but I believe that your needs will be met and the universe has got your back

Hi everyone. Sorry for the lapse in responses. We still don't have internet other than a hotspot for work.

Long story short, it's been rough. We are blessed to have a place to stay but the water mitigation company messed up a good bit in my house. I've been ghosted by several contractors, but I found one that is ready to fight my insurance company for me.

My house is gutted almost completely and the contractor said it should have been a complete gut. Only 1/4 of our school is able to be used. It's been a challenge with virtual and myfis because internet still hasn't been restored to most of the parish.

When I have a chance, I'll give a more detailed update.
