You want to infuse your deck with your energies.
Everything carries energies, regardless of condition new / old.
Trust your intuition on keeping deck cleansed, say, if another touches them, (especially without your permission), negative / challenging Reads, self-transformations, as well as reconnecting.
Smudging deck by passing it through smoke.
Salt too, can draw out negative energies.
Wrap deck airtight, in container of salt, for several days.
Placing deck in moonlight.
Pass deck over lit candle.
The above give you four elemental cleansings:
Earth=salt, Fire=candle,
Air=smudging,
Water=mooon bath,
even sprinkling drops on deck.
Can store deck in special container with quartz, or crystal you want that feels right.
You can keep decks wrapped in special cloths, (I use silk), as well as infusing energies with colors:
Black – shadows and the unknown
Blue – spirituality and peace
Brown – earth and groundedness
Green – nature and fertility
Pink – love and beauty
Purple – higher knowledge
Red – energy and vitality
