The fox is sharp-witted and aware of his/her instincts. Deception is very much key around this totem - its about learning to be wily and to rely on instincts, loyal to kin and family members - able to search for what is needed in terms of wisdom and enhance your knowledge with searching within for answers. The ability to land back on your feet and to move forward in the direction that's right for you is necessary with this totem. Some people believe that this totem is the trickster totem but that is a misunderstanding in many ways, and could be seen as that person is not quite ready to work with fox, yet. Shifting perception to the positive is always key.
This totem teaches you how to be strong and to consistently move forward in spite of what's thrown at you in the lines of trust and its all about aligning the senses of instinct with this totem. Fox proves to be useful in finding your own personal sense of integrity and reliant on wits survival instincts to see you through to the next leg of your journey.
Fox energy is all about being devious not in a malicious way but in a way that helps you find your bearings and it comes forward as a gentle reminder to be aware of your own sense of self and surroundings, the people in your surroundings as well. fox also has a sense of dignity about the energy consciousness, though is very much a wise creature secure in the lesson that the hard way is learned only the once before you move forward with the lessons to be learned!
A great totem for navigation and finding your own new path and direction, fox teaches us how to prove to ourselves that we can do what it is that's on our heart's desire to do. If you have a fox as totem, chances are you have a good ability to hear spirit, though this is not always necessarily the case, but foxes have an acute sense of hearing and are able to hear things a lot as well as just know when they are around.
This totem also knows when to camouflage itself and hide away from people, always being careful when to reveal its where-abouts. Even if you catch fox as he/she is on a mission, he is always one step ahead in what they are on the run/hunting for and tracking.
Being very much the predator that they are, their ability to sniff out movement from the undergrowth is very much spot on.

Being loyal as a friend to alike minded folk and kin.
