NASA, SpaceX launch historic Falcon 9 flight

NASA and SpaceX launch the Falcon 9 rocket and Dragon capsule with two U.S. astronauts, in a history-making flight to the International Space Station.

Falcon Heavy boosters landing

Following booster separation, Falcon Heavy’s two side boosters (Block 5 B1052 and B1053) landed at SpaceX’s Landing Zones 1 and 2 (LZ-1 and LZ-2) at Cape Canaveral Air Force Station in Florida.

Falcon Heavy’s center core (Block 5 B1055) landed on the “Of Course I Still Love You” droneship, stationed in the Atlantic Ocean.

First stage of a Falcon 9 Full Thrust rocket on the autonomous spaceport drone ship (ASDS) Of Course I Still Love You. The stage landed successfully after launching the SpaceX CRS-8 resupply mission to the ISS. According to SpaceX, the photograph was taken from a NASA chase plane.

The two ASDS names used so far, Just Read the Instructions (JRtI), and Of Course I Still Love You (OCISLY), pay homage to the works of the late science fiction author Iain M. Banks by being based on his Culture fictional universe.
